Wanting To Hear God's Voice
Someone recently said 90% of the time God speaks to us through his word. Relationship with God is a personal thing. Much of my life I depended on going to church to feed me spiritually. It does, I am not here to knock going to church. But we need a personal Jesus, just me and God. I evaluate my life and I realize I am not real good at hearing from God. I look at so many decisions I could have done better if I had listened to God and sought his will. God wants to be there for us but much of it depends on how much of God we want. This blog has many reasons for it. I try to write something after I read a portion of God's word. I want to hear from God. I want to affect someone, I want to influence others that read this to either accept Jesus as Lord and Savior as I have or to grow closer in their relationship with Jesus. I want to stand for what I believe and sometimes speak out about the dysfunction in our world. I remember when God was dealing with me when I had walked away from God in my twenties. I felt like God said to me if you think being a Christian is so easy, instead of criticizing, show them how to live. How about we have a positive influence on society instead of a negative. Jesus came to give life and make it better. God's way is the best way to live. His perfect will is the best way. If I may just use the example of families, if we follow God's will, his perfect will. We seek our life partner to be someone who also wants God's will. God's will for families is one man one woman for life, until death do us part. Many times we do not seek God's will, we go off beauty or so many factors other than God's will. Then as I have experienced it doesn't work out and you have broken families. Parents with blended families and both parents and the children are no longer related by blood. Many parents, especially those that adopt young babies, develop that same bond and love for their children. But you deal with added stresses when dealing with a blended family. I have been there where her child did not accept me and mine did not accept her. It was not God perfect plan where both parents have been there from day one of a child's life. It seems the earlier the better. We live in a society that accepts living together outside the commitment of marriage as acceptable. It is not God's perfect plan. Sometimes after cohabitating and having children they split, once again not God's plan, one woman / one man for life until death do part. We don't seek God's advice on how to raise his favorite creation, those made in his very image. Sometimes we depend on church and school to teach our children but God wants us to impart our ways and values that we have learned from God to our children. We depend on others to do our job. Yes it is good to take our children to church but do not depend on that to be more influential than the parent that lives with the child 24/7. We live in a society that says it takes a village to raise a child, God wants parents to be the major influence in their children's life. Note the following words from Deuteronomy 4:5-9.
5See, I have taught you decrees and laws as the Lord my God commanded me, so that you may follow them in the land you are entering to take possession of it.
6Observe them carefully, for this will show your wisdom and understanding to the nations, who will hear about all these decrees and say, “Surely this great nation is a wise and understanding people.”
7What other nation is so great as to have their gods near them the way the Lord our God is near us whenever we pray to him?
8And what other nation is so great as to have such righteous decrees and laws as this body of laws I am setting before you today?
9Only be careful, and watch yourselves closely so that you do not forget the things your eyes have seen or let them fade from your heart as long as you live. Teach them to your children and to their children after them. When our world is messed up we want to blame God when we have not followed him and his word. Why God do you allow so much trouble in our world? When it really falls back on us, because we have not followed God's perfect plan for life. Family is just one aspect. The word of God affects all of life. How we interact with others. How we conduct business. Do we look at our selves before we try to correct someone else. As I look at this very blog that I am writing, I see failure after failure in my life. I can't go back and fix it. I can't go back and redo the kids that I have raised. Jesus comes to fix us on a personal level and going forward we just do the best we can and leave the rest up to God. There are no grandchildren in heaven, what that means is every person has to find God for themselves on a personal level. The God that knew every one of our days before we were born. He game to give life and give us the best life possible in a dysfunctional world if we will follow him. Follow his voice, his words, his commands, his precepts, his ways. God has a plan for each of us. His way is best, read his word and look at it closely. This world, and our politics don't have the answer. But God that created us knows the best way to live. He who keeps the universe in order does he not also know us? He who knows every one of our days before one of them happens, does any one know us better than that. He understands our personality, how we were raised and how to live the best life possible. I want to hear from God. We live in the best nation in the world because our forefathers sought God's direction when they created this one nation under God. I want to hear from God going forward and our nation needs to hear from God going forward. God will save us individually and our nation as we seek to hear his voice going forward. God bless, LVZ.
