Tuning Fork

You know that piano's are tuned with a tuning fork. This thought hit me as I was reading about relationships in A Discipleship Journey. I see the many troubles in our world and in our nation. We were raised differently, different family experiences, different thinking, different personalities. We are just plain different in so many ways. Christianity is a connector. Even though there are so many churches, at least in those churches that claim Christ as Lord and Savior. Be imitators of me, as I am of Christ. 1 Corinthians 11:1  I have met people or perhaps I should say I had Uncles that you could follow as they followed Christ. Billy Graham was another person that many feel they could follow as he followed Christ. This thought  stuck with me as I was reading in the book mentioned above. Piano's are in tune with each other when they are tuned to the tuning fork. They are not tuned to each other, they are tuned to a tuning fork. When they are in tune with the tuning fork, then they are truly in tune with each other. We have so much division in our country and even in the church. I wonder if it would help if we stopped trying to tune each other to be like us and tried to tune ourselves to the character of Christ.  Let Joe take care of himself and I try to be in tune with God. Perhaps even in black and white division, if we quit tuning each other and tuned in to Jesus Christ, would we not each be more like him? Like the triangle, the top is God himself, and at the bottom corners are you and me. Or on one bottom corner is the white man and the other corner is the black man. On the one bottom corner is the woman and on the other corner is the man. As we draw closer to God would we not also draw closer to each other?  Therefore be imitators of God, as beloved children. And walk in love, as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us, a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God. Ephesians 5:1-2.   Walk in love as Christ loved us. Are we not to love not only our brothers and sisters in Christ, but to love even our enemies? Isn't this walking in love how the world will know us that we are indeed followers of God. There are so many divisions in our world. I think carefully about some posts on face book and it seems they are meant to divide us. Do we fall for Satan's trap ? He is out to destroy us and one way he is very successful is destroying relationships, be it in families, in marriages, in churches. Let us be followers of God as dear children. Let us walk in love as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us on Calvary's Cross. It bothers me when I see so much division between black and white in our world. Is not our primary relationship if we are Christians to be like God first and foremost. Is it more important to be Christian than black or white. Is it more important to be Christian than Democrat or Republican? Are we really in tune with God when there is so much divisiveness between us? God is the tuning fork we need to be tuned to. If our Blackness or Whiteness, conservative or liberal, Democrat or Republican is more important than our relationship with Christ, we may be tuning to something other than the true tuning fork. God bless, LVZ.
