Grace

Do we really believe in grace? Grace gives us righteousness even though we don't deserve it. We haven't earned it, don't have enough money to buy it, haven't lived a good enough life to obtain it. It is just freely given by God. So check this out I am reading a book about grace. Remember Jeffery Dahmer, the serial killer that killed 17 men and boys between 1978 and 1991? He was killed by another prison inmate in 1994. He cannibalized some of his victims. He is said to have become a Christian several weeks before he was killed. He said he was really sorry for the things he did. He was serving 15 or 16 life terms in prison. The author is asking the question do we really believe that God could forgive someone like Jeffery Dahmer. Or how about Gary Ridgeway that killed 48 in Seattle area? I don't know if Gary ever repented. But what if he had? How about Ted Bundy or Robert Yates. Evil men what would happen if they repented to God for their sins. None of us have lived as terrible life as these men did, yet the Bible tells us all have sinned. None of us are worthy or earned grace in any way. Can God forgive someone like these? Do we really believe in God's grace? God looks at us when we repent and does not see what we did, it is forgiven and lost forever. Our sins are removed from us as far as the east is from the west, never to be remembered no more. If God according to his word can forgive the vilest sinner, can he not forgive us? Isn't that what grace is, no matter what we have done, God can forgive us? I think it repulses most of us to even think about it, that someone so evil could be in heaven. So where do we draw the line? Who's sin is too terrible to receive God's forgiveness? Mine, yours, I am not as bad as these guys not even close, in fact, I have never killed anyone.  Yet the Bible says I cannot live a good enough life or do enough good deeds to earn it. I am not sure I understand grace. I am reading "In The GRIP of Grace" by Max Lucado. God is the lone judge of all of our lives, he alone gives grace. I probably should be thankful it is God and not me. Could I give grace to these mentioned above, or how about anyone that hurt me? Can I forgive them? What about the anger in our world today at what people did 100 to 200 years ago? Should they be forgiven? If a black person cannot forgive what a white person did 100 to 200 years ago or even 50 years ago, can God forgive them for their trespasses? Do we really believe in grace? Today Christians are divided over things as small as wearing or not wearing a mask. What will we say when we give an account of our lives? Their sin is bigger than mine? I was told one time the only question God will ask is What Have you Done WIth Jesus? Do I really understand grace?
But if you refuse to forgive others, your Father will not forgive your sins. Matthew 6:15
I wonder how we look to God when we still want our pound of flesh for those we think escaped true justice under the law?  17 innocent people killed in the aftermath of George Floyd's wrongful death in the protests over that one wrongful death.  As many deaths as caused by Jeffery Dahmer. God bless, LVZ.
