Earle Gilbert

Went to another funeral yesterday for Earle Gilbert a cousin of Barbara's.  It was very touching to see the tears and hear the words of the daughters. One daughter remembered me because of a picture of me and Earle she had from her Aunt Joyce's funeral. Earle's 93 year old mother is still living and this is the second child she has buried in her old age. For if the dead are not raised, not even Christ has been raised. And if Christ has not been raised, your faith is futile and you are still in your sins. Then those also who have fallen asleep in Christ have perished. If in Christ we have hope in this life only, we are of all people most to be pitied. But in fact Christ has been raised from the dead, the firstfruits of those who have fallen asleep. For as by a man came death, by a man has come also the resurrection of the dead. For as in Adam all die, so also in Christ shall all be made alive. 1 Corinthians 15:15-22. It is at times like this I remember these words. One thing that brings comfort is we have this hope in Christ that we will see them again. The pastor spoke to those left behind, make sure your house is in order. He made it plain, he was talking about your spiritual condition when he said those words. None of us knows the number of our days. Rest in peace Earle, until the great resurrection, perhaps on the other side, when we are both in our eternity, we can get to know each other better. So sorry for the families loss, may God ease their pain. God bless, LVZ.
