Genesis 19

16When he hesitated, the men grasped his hand and the hands of his wife and of his two daughters and led them safely out of the city, for the Lord was merciful to them. 17As soon as they had brought them out, one of them said, “Flee for your lives! Don’t look back, and don’t stop anywhere in the plain! Flee to the mountains or you will be swept away!”

18But Lot said to them, “No, my lords, b please! 19Your servant has found favor in your d eyes, and you e have shown great kindness to me in sparing my life. But I can’t flee to the mountains; this disaster will overtake me, and I’ll die. 20Look, here is a town near enough to run to, and it is small. Let me flee to it—it is very small, isn’t it? Then my life will be spared.”

21He said to him, “Very well, I will grant this request too; I will not overthrow the town you speak of. 22But flee there quickly, because I cannot do anything until you reach it.” (That is why the town was called Zoar.)

23By the time Lot reached Zoar, the sun had risen over the land. 24Then the Lord rained down burning sulfur on Sodom and Gomorrah—from the Lord out of the heavens. 25Thus he overthrew those cities and the entire plain, destroying all those living in the cities—and also the vegetation in the land. 26But Lot’s wife looked back, and she became a pillar of salt. Genesis 19:16-26
Here in this chapter we find God being merciful to Abrahams family, his nephew Lot in particular. The outcry from the city was so great, God sent angels to investigate. The angels told Abraham what was about to happen to the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah and Abraham pleaded with the angels to spare the cities for the righteous, his family. The angels came and warn Lot to get out and any sons, daughters, son-in-law, daughters-in-law with them. Lot warned the two young men that were pledged to marry his daughters but they did not believe him. Lot and his family hesitated the next morning and the angels grabbed them by the hands and led them out. Flee to the mountains the angels warn them and don't look back. The men of this city tried to get the three angels to come out from Lot's house so they could have sex with them. Lot refused to let them in but the throng was trying to get into Lot's house and the angels reached out and grabbed Lot and pulled him back inside. Then struck the men with blindness so they could not find the door. Things to note: the evil was so great that the outcry reached the attention of God and he sent angels to investigate. People did not believe and understand the urgency to get out. the angels had to grab Lot and his family by the hand and lead them out.  They are told of what is about to happen and they just don't get it. Flee to the mountains they are told and Lot argues and says let me go to the city of Zoar which is nearby. Also they were warned do not look back, and Lots wife did look back and became a pillar of salt. In much the same way we must flee the destruction that is headed our way. We must not look back, but keep fleeing towards God's protection. For us it is through Jesus Christ. Those that do not believe and think we are joking or don't know what we are talking about, will also be destroyed at the end of this life. As we look at the corruption that surrounds us, people do not believe in justice anymore but their political values are more important than truth. We see it getting worse with each passing year. It was worse with the confirmation of Kavanaugh than any time in the past. It is corrupt. We see it with Hillary seeming to get passed over with the things she did and is not held accountable. We see it when reporters expose the evil of Planned Parenthood and the reporters are prosecuted.  There are many that are not heeding the warning signs today. There is a judgement day coming because just as it was in the days of Noah and in the day when  Sodom and Gomorrah were destroyed for the evil and the corruption in the land, we are headed to destruction. God has a way out, through the blood of Jesus to all who will believe on his name. This destruction will happen, I do not know how long God will tarry. God waited 100 years as Noah built the ark and preached to the people in his day, but Lot and his family were led out by the hand the next day from the warning from the angels. God could tarry, not wanting any to perish, but sooner or later the cry from the earth will be to great and God will act. Our salvation to day is only in Jesus Christ. If we believe on his name we also will be saved from the destruction that is headed our way. Look around at the corruption in our world, it is getting worse almost day by day. Jesus died for our sins, for the sins of the whole world, for all those that will believe in his name. God bless, LVZ.
