You Cannot Live Right and Think Wrong
We should think about the things God tells us in his word. We see good and bad being told. Eve disobeyed God. Cain killed his brother. Abram lied. The people at Babel wanted to stay in one place, when God had told them to spread across the earth. There was a lot of corruption on earth and God repented that he had even made man. Because we read in the Bible that people lie does not mean God condones lying. I am going somewhere with this thought. Because we read in the Bible that Cain killed Abel, that God condones killing. We can read how Joseph's brothers sold him in to slavery doesn't mean the Bible condones slavery. King David killed Uriah because he had committed adultery with Uriah's wife. He wanted to cover it up. Much in the Bible is telling of the sinfulness of man. There is much corruption in Bible history. God sent Jonah to Nineveh because unless they repented he would destroy Nineveh. God destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah because of the evil and corruption in their cities. God destroyed all the peoples on the face of the earth in the flood except for Noah and his three sons and their wives. God tells us to over come evil with good.
In Romans 12 we find these words:
14Bless those who persecute you; bless and do not curse them. 15Rejoice with those who rejoice, weep with those who weep. 16Live in harmony with one another. Do not be haughty, but associate with the lowly. Never be wise in your own sight. 17Repay no one evil for evil, but give thought to do what is honorable in the sight of all. 18If possible, so far as it depends on you, live peaceably with all. 19Beloved, never avenge yourselves, but leave it to the wrath of God, for it is written, “Vengeance is mine, I will repay, says the Lord.” 20To the contrary, “if your enemy is hungry, feed him; if he is thirsty, give him something to drink; for by so doing you will heap burning coals on his head.” 21Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.
So we see how God tells us to behave when corruption and wrong is all around us.
Servants, be subject to your masters with all respect, not only to the good and gentle but also to the unjust. 1 Peter 2:18
5Bondservants, obey your earthly masters with fear and trembling, with a sincere heart, as you would Christ, 6not by the way of eye-service, as people-pleasers, but as bondservants of Christ, doing the will of God from the heart, 7rendering service with a good will as to the Lord and not to man, 8knowing that whatever good anyone does, this he will receive back from the Lord, whether he is a bondservant or is free. 9Masters, do the same to them, and stop your threatening, knowing that he who is both their Master and yours is in heaven, and that there is no partiality with him. Ephesians 6:5-9.
6Likewise, urge the younger men to be self-controlled. 7Show yourself in all respects to be a model of good works, and in your teaching show integrity, dignity, 8and sound speech that cannot be condemned, so that an opponent may be put to shame, having nothing evil to say about us. 9Bondservantsb are to be submissive to their own masters in everything; they are to be well-pleasing, not argumentative, 10not pilfering, but showing all good faith, so that in everything they may adorn the doctrine of God our Savior. Titus 2:6-10.
So where am I going with all this? Just because God tells us how to behave in the middle of wrong doing does not mean God condones slavery. God is telling us how to live in bad situations. When we see the wrong done to us like we saw in the Kavanaugh hearing does not mean we as Christians can retaliate in like manner. In fact the Bible tells us to do other wise. God blessed Joseph when he served his masters with respect, even when thrown into prison when falsely accused. Many conservatives are Christians, and as such we should not use the same tactics as the liberals used against us. Vengeance is mine, I will repay says the Lord. Let God take care of the wrong. It may not be until judgment day but God will repay. And yes I know there are some liberal thinking people that claim to be Christian. If so they should not be using these evil tactics either. I heard someone make this statement the other day: You cannot live right and think wrong. Let the Bible be our guide in how we think and live. God bless, LVZ.
