Your President
It bothers me when someone says your President. I have done the same. I didn't like Bill Clinton, I might have called him your President at that time. I liked George W. Bush, he was my President. I didn't agree with Obama but I began to realize we are wrong when we don't claim the President we disagree with as ours. We are seeing each term of our next President drawing more and more division. Perhaps it is because we do not accept the one we don't like as ours. First my side and then the other side. The sides being conservative or liberal, Republican or Democrat. We used to take pride in our President, even if it was the other side. The first President I really remember was Nixon. Actually it was Kennedy and Nixon. In Grade School we had an exercise where as students voting in our class and I voted for Kennedy. When I got home and my parents knew about it my Dad said I should have voted for Nixon. I was a kid, I didn't know about all the issues nor did I care. I may have voted for Kennedy because he seemed to be the most popular. When I reached voting age I voted for Nixon during his reelection. I voted for Ford and he lost to Carter. I voted for Reagan twice. I voted for George H. W. Bush. I voted for Bob Dole, he lost to Clinton. And some details are fuzzy without checking google, I hope I got them in the right order. I didn't like the ones I didn't vote for. I know at sometimes I am sure I made that same statement your President. They were all my Presidents, even the ones I voted against. I realized as I matured, God gives us our Presidents. It was hard for me to understand at first. If I liked them like George W. Bush, I believed God put them in office. If I didn't like them as I didn't like bill Clinton, it didn't make sense that God would put a person I saw as very corrupt into the office of President. I have also learned that God's ways are way above my understanding. But you learn these things even in Sunday School. God allowed many generations of evil kings to punish his people. I don't think I will ever understand why. We do ourselves a big favor if we accept God's choices and live with them. I have also learned that praying turns the heart of God. We as Christians have prayed more than I ever remember for this election and we were blessed with Trump. Some, even some who claim Christianity are not happy with Trump. God is sovereign, he is in control. We are hurting our country as we divide and do not support each other and our President when he was not the one we voted for. It gets worse each election. If you candidate wins the next election and we do not turn this around, expect it will even be worse than this time. This time was worse than 2012 or 2008. 2012 and 2008 were worse than 2004 and 2000. IS this what we want? Wasn't it better when we came together as a nation after an election and waited till the next election to make a change. Think about it. Is this what we want? God help us and God bless, LVZ.
