Supplications

Today or even the last several days I have not felt inspired to write anything. The political arena has somewhat died down, but you still see face book posts with catchy titles that really say very little.  One thought was on 1 Timothy 2:1-2 First of all, then, I urge that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for all people, for kings and all who are in high positions, that we may lead a peaceful and quiet life, godly and dignified in every way. I don't remember where I saw this but thought it appropriate for the time we are in. We do need to pray for our President and our President elect. I have been very impressed with what I see from Donald Trump and Mike Pence so far. I know liberals are still coming unglued, but when you stop and take a good look, I think Trump is going to do well. That is probably the biggest reason Liberals are having  such a hard time.  this scripture does tell us to pray for Kings and all who are in high positions. Since I have been at Hope, I have tried to pray for the leaders of our church every day. It is our responsibility as Christians to pray for our leaders, in the church and even our governmental leaders. I think I have learned to pray more about things ahead of time, instead of making a decision and then asking God to help me when I am in trouble already. Perhaps if I prayed first, I wouldn't have made a decision to get me into so much trouble in the first place.  Pray about everything. We do want peace. This scripture tells us to pray for our leaders so that we may lead a quiet and peaceful life. So what is supplication? As I looked that up the definition that made sense to me:  To make a humble, earnest petition; To pray to God in a humble and earnest manner. To pray humbly and earnestly and give thanks for all people, for kings and all who are in high position.  Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much. James 5:16 I think we have seen this happen before our very eyes this year in the Presidential election. God heard our prayers and gave us Trump. I saw more signs traveling across country this year urging Christians to pray for our nation or a city setting a time to come together and pray for our nation. Franklin Graham traveled to all 50 states to gather Christians for prayer for our nation and this election. My church called us to pray  at 7:14 AM and PM for our nation. I believe prayer works, as we have seen during this election season. I said months ago if we won this election it would be because we got on our knees to get God's attention. It happened but we need to continue to pray for our President elect. the battle for our nation is not over. God bless, LVZ
