Who is Prejudice?
I think it is time to examine this. God created one race. In this word, God tells us to be one and Jesus prays for unity.
And I am no longer in the world, but they are in the world, and I am coming to you. Holy Father, keep them in your name, which you have given me, that they may be one, even as we are one. John 17:11 There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is no male and female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus. Galatians 3:28 As I look at this issue of prejudice in our country I think it is time we took a fresh look at it. We see a world that is falling apart over Black and White issues. We see where if a Black man or woman thinks conservatively, they get called an Uncle Tom or a House Slave or even worse. We had a tragedy in Tupelo, where a 37 year old Black man was killed by a White police officer and it is dividing our community. We understand hurt when any ones family member gets killed. Ronnie Shumpert ran from the police and then it gets bad. No one other than God and the officer involved knows what really happened on the evening of June 18th, 2016. The Grand Jury cleared the White officer of any wrong doing. But that is not good enough. The community was set to have a time of prayer for the community for the Shumpert family and the Police force here in Tupelo. But two days before the meeting at Bancorp South Arena, the Grand Jury announced their decision, the officer was cleared, no charges against him. Now we cannot get together Black and White to even pray. At a time when we are at an all time low, we are so divided over race the Churches cannot come together in prayer. (This blog was written many months ago and we have never come together as a community in prayer.) Even back in time when the book of Galatians was written, there was slavery. It could have been Jews as slaves or perhaps Greeks or some other nation. But God intended for us to be one. There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither Slave nor Free, there is no male or female, for we are suppose to be one in Christ. What race calls their own members Uncle Toms if they think conservatively? What race will criticize you if you develop too many White friends? What race keeps going back to the past to justify their victimization? I wonder if it is time to take a deep look inside? Yes there are some racist White people. But I wonder if we honestly take a closer look, HONESTLY take a closer look and compare ourselves with the word of God if we will like what we see? God created the human race, What race as they try to work on the issues of today between Black and White forms a coalition of only Black members? I feel if a member of the Black community were to read this blog, they would be pissed at me. It is time to open eyes and see things as they really are. What race has a movement called Black Lives Matter and gets upset and punishes members of their own race if they speak the words All Lives Matter or even advocates violence towards a police force. It is time to step out of the past, forgive the White community, most of whom are dead that had anything to do with the racism of the past. Two wrongs have never made a right. I had to deal with that in my own life. In a failed marriage, where there was infidelity, it did not make it right for me to be unfaithful, because I thought a spouse was unfaithful. Most time I didn't have proof, I just thought it was so. I acted on that belief and committed a wrong because I thought I was wronged. I had to deal with it and be responsible for my own actions. I had to ask God to forgive me for my personal sins and change my heart and life to be right. I could have tried to change my spouse forever and it never would have fixed my own heart. I am not with out sin. I look at my past and I am thankful for a gracious God that forgave me. It was my heart that had to change, regardless of what any one else was doing. May God's love show through my words and may the attitudes of my heart be acceptable in God's sight. All of us need to take a good look inside. Prejudice is a problem of the heart. it is not just a White problem or just a Black problem, but it is a heart problem. God wants us to be one, but if we continue to fight with each other, I wonder if heaven will be our home? I think of the triangle picture /_\, with God at the top of the triangle. Black at the lower left corner, and White at the lower right corner. As we move closer to God, we should be moving closer to each other. God bless, LVZ.
