Mary Magdalene, Joanna, And Susanna
2And certain women, which had been healed of evil spirits and infirmities, Mary called Magdalene, out of whom went seven devils, 3And Joanna the wife of Chuza Herod's steward, and Susanna, and many others, which ministered unto him of their substance. Luke 8:2-3
In this chapter, we read of several that were healed of demon possession. And certain women who had been healed of evil spirits and infirmities ministered to Jesus of their substance. Were all three of these healed of evil spirits? Or some of them of evil spirits and others of infirmities? Or were they healed of more than one thing, evil spirits, and other infirmities? I am leaning toward being healed of both. Later in the chapter, we read of the man healed of a legion of demons and Jesus permitted the demons to go into a herd of pigs and committed sewesuide. Misspelled on purpose. Note that these women ministered to Jesus, did they prepare food and feed Jesus and those that were with him? Several times Jesu was criticized for eating with sinners in earlier chapters. Jesus was hungry and he ate, he was human as he went around the country teaching and healing. Also in this chapter, Jesus healed Jarius's daughter. Jarius had come to Jesus asking for him to come and heal his daughter that was dying. There was a crowd and Jesus was pressed about. This is were Jesus felt virtue had gone out of him as the crowd pressed against him. He stopped to investigate, who touched me, Jesus asks? The disciples say Lord there is a crowd all around you and you ask who touched you? Jesus explained someone was healed. Then the woman with the issue of blood comes forth and explains that it was her and she had sought help for years and could not find healing until she touched the hem of Jesus's garment. Be healed Jesus said, he wanted this particular healing to be known. As he is thus delayed the daughter of Jarius dies and some from Jarius's home came and told him don't bother Jesus any more your daughter has died. But Jesus insisted and went ahead to the home of Jarius. There he took the mother and father and three of the disciples into the room with him and commanded the girl to arise. Jesus raised her from the dead and then commanded that she be given something to eat. I imagine as she lay dying she had not eaten for some time and Jesus saw to even her physical needs like nourishment. So we read of so many healings and of even healing from evil spirits. I don't know if any with evil spirits were even able to ask for healing. I wonder if it was always someone else asking for them or if it was a chance meeting? Jesus heals many types of ailments including demon possession. Jesus also forgives sins, in a previous incident instead of saying be healed, Jesus said their sins be forgiven. He commands even the winds and the stormy seas and they obey him. This is the same Jesus that forgives sins today. God bless, LVZ.
