Pray For Our President
First of all, then, I urge that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for all people, for kings and all who are in high positions, that we may lead a peaceful and quiet life, godly and dignified in every way. 1 Timothy 2:1-2
The king’s heart is a stream of water in the hand of the LORD; he turns it wherever he will. Proverbs 21:1
It is time to pray for our President. I believe God put him in office. I believe it was an answer to prayer that Donald Trump was elected to the highest office of the land. The Bible tells us to pray for our kings which would be our political leaders in this day. Notice, thanksgiving be made for all people, for kings and all who are in high positions. We are to support them. There are many things we may not understand that God tells us to do but God has his reasons even if we do not understand. I think of the commandment to honor our father and mother. The Bible tells us to honor them, period. Not just if they were good parents, but even those of us that had bad parents, we are to honor them. It is a command. In much the same way we are to pray for our political leaders, not for their fall but for their success, why else would we be told to give thanks? I believe God is showing us just how far we as Christians have strayed from following his word. We think we get to choose, if we like him we pray, if we voted for him we pray. If he was elected and ran as a member of the political party we think like and support then we pray. That is not what the Bible is saying. It is saying for all people, for kings and all who are in high position. We do not get to choose which ones. God will direct our leaders if we pray. We live in a day when both political parties are against our President. The fighting and infighting gets worse it seems by the day. I did not pray for President Obama like I should have, but the command in the scriptures did not disappear when Obama was President, it was still there. I know there are many liberal thinking individuals that are doing the same. I don't like this President and I did not vote for him, so I will not pray for God to direct him. Romans 13 tells us civil authority is ordained by God. We see a lack of respect for authority growing year after year. It is up to us as Christians to pray for our President, Period. God bless, LVZ.
