Examples

For I have given you an example, that you also should do just as I have done to you. Truly, truly, I say to you, a servant is not greater than his master, nor is a messenger greater than the one who sent him. John 13:15,16  In joking around with my Grandson Elijah, or perhaps trying to show off a bit: I guzzled a 20 oz. bottle of water. I am in my 60's OK.  My Grandson is only seven. He showed me he could guzzle a 20 oz. bottle of water the last time he was here. I am not sure that is the example I wanted him to follow. I do want to follow Christ. I would love to model Christian behavior and see my Grandson copy those behaviors.  But Jesus is our ultimate example. What I really want to model is love.  By this all people will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another. John 13:35 This is the thing we really want to model for those following us, Love. It is by our love for one another that all people shall know we are Christ's disciples. But I say to you, Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, Matthew 5:44 tells us to love even our enemies. And in Ephesians 5:25 Husbands, love your wives, as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her,   Ephesians 5:25  here we are to love our wives to the point we give ourselves up for her. Greater love has no man than this that  a man lay down his life for his friends.  As a Christian, the most important thing I can model or be an example of is loving others. I hope my Grandson can look at me and copy me in loving others. That is an example I would like for him to imitate. I need it first in my own life. Christ example is he gave his very life for us on the cross of Calvary. Jesus died for my sins and yours. Greater love has no one than this, that someone lay down his life for his friends. John 15:13 I hope love shows through. I hope as my Grandson imitates me as he did guzzling that bottle of water, he finds examples of loving others to imitate also. We are to be servants to others.
